Funding Transparency

Current funding

Common Ground UK is currently funded entirely by its founders. No external investment, grant funding, or commercial revenue has been received to date.

Founder funding covers platform hosting, domain registration, and operational costs. No founder draws a salary from the platform at this stage.

What we do not accept

To protect the non-partisan integrity of the platform, Common Ground UK will never accept funding from:

• Any political party, campaign, or affiliated organisation
• Any donor who seeks to influence editorial decisions, question selection, or moderation standards
• Any advertiser in exchange for platform placement or data access outside published commercial terms
• Any foreign government or state-affiliated entity

Grant funding

Common Ground UK is actively pursuing grant funding from charitable foundations whose missions align with civic participation, democratic accountability, and public interest journalism. Priority funders identified for Year 1 include Luminate and the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust.

Any grant funding received will be published on this page within 30 days of receipt, including the amount, funder, and purpose.

Commercial model

Common Ground UK intends to become financially sustainable through a B2B data subscription model. Anonymised, aggregated public opinion data will be made available to think tanks, public affairs organisations, and research institutions on published commercial terms.

No individual voting data is ever sold. No personal data is shared with commercial partners. The commercial layer is designed to be separate from and subordinate to the platform's civic mission.

Editorial independence

Funding does not influence which questions are published, how results are presented, or how the Accountability Gap is calculated. These decisions are governed by the published methodology and overseen by the Independent Methodology Panel. Any funder - including the founders - who attempts to influence editorial decisions will be refused and the attempt will be disclosed on this page.
